Poem: Winter's Best Trick

Winter's Best Trick

I twist and I tumble around your neck tight,
I dance in the wind like I’m ready for flight,
I tickle your chin when the snow starts to fall,
Without me, my friend, you'd shiver and crawl.

I hide all the marks of the cold on your skin,
I cover your secrets right up to your chin,
In colors or patterns, I steal all the looks,
More famous than models in glossy-bought books.

In summer I sleep, in your closet I stay,
But winter? Oh buddy, I’m queen of the day,
No buttons, no zippers, yet holding my throne,
Wrapped once or twice, so now you’re never alone.
